Loss of Humphrey Leaves Team Without A Clue

I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue team still don’t know if they can or should replace their chairman.

Following the BBC Radio Christmas, Mitch Benn (he of The Now Show) has posted an interesting snippet regarding the future of arguably the flagship comedy show on UK radio, I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue. With the sad death of Jazz Virtuoso and Chair of the show, Humphrey Lyttleton

Still, caught up with a few faces I’d not seen for a while, including Ian Pattinson, the genius who for years wrote most of Humphrey Lyttleton’s between-rounds gags for I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue; he confirmed my (and indeed everyone’s) suspicion that they really don’t have a clue how, or even if, to continue with Clue now Humph’s gone.

My natural inclination is for them to not continue the show. After the death of Willie Rushton, a former panellist, there was still momentum to continue, and the guest panellist format worked well. But the loss of the chair of the program is such an integral part to Clue that this isn’t a case of replacing a Deayton or a Lamarr.

If Clue was to follow Humph to the great Mornington Crescent in the sky, i think we’d all understand, and that it would be the best solution.

(Hat tip to Mitch Benn).
