Dusty £20 vase worth a flipping fortune!

Check that old vase in your loft – it may be worth a fortune!

A pensioner in the west country spent 20 years with a small vase gathering dust in the back of her china cabinet. She had bought it for just £20 from an antiques shop in the west country and it remained in her collection until she died.

However, when the old lady’s family were clearing out her house, they discovered that the vase was actually worth a whopping £10,000. Now, even allowing for inflation, that is a huge credit-crunch-busting profit that the family will no doubt welcome.

Auctioneer Guy Schwinge described the vase as “an outstanding piece of English porcelain”.

“It is an extremely rare and valuable survival. I’m told that the woman who owned it had a very refined eye for antiques and was very good at spotting things like this vase.”

Time to go and clear out the loft I think…
