Gulf War veteran David Creber was not taking any prisoners when he foiled a hold-up at his local post office.
Creber had only just moved into the village when he visited the post office one day to find a man dousing the postmaster with petrol and brandishing a lighter. WIthout any further ado David punched the would-be crook in the face and wrestled him to the ground, before dragging him outside.
Unfortunately the hoodlum had an accomplice, who set upon David and the pair made their escape, but not before the postmaster had hit his panic button, summoning the police.
“When he said he was going to set fire to the place I just lashed out,” said David.
“It was just an instinctive reaction to stop him. He fell to the floor and I slipped over because there was petrol everywhere. I pushed him through the door and we tussled outside.
“I was on the ground and he was trying to kick me so I grabbed his leg and was dragging him by his foot.”
We are sure the postmaster and the rest of the village of Maesteg are very grateful to this have-a-go hero. Well done David. Here at The Daily Dust we salute you!
