PFA announce United-heavy award winners | The Daily Dust delivering the best bric a brac, daily news and events with a British flavour

The Players Football Association awards were announced over the weekend, and shocked a fair few fans.

The Premier League team of the season was full of Man United and Liverpool players, with Sir Alex’s men claiming six of the places with Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres, Glen Johnson, Ashley Young and Nicholas Anelka rounding out the team.

The individual awards threw another surprise out with Ryan Giggs claiming Player of the Year despite only starting 12 games out of 24 appearances this season. Ashley Young’s role in Villa’s excellent season saw him pick up the Young Player’s award.
