World’s smallest Mule?

May 21, 2009 by Laura Craig

Springwell Farm in County Durham may have a record breaker on their hands in the shape of Pedro the Mule.

Measuring in at 20 inches tall, two-week old Pedro is the result of the unlikely pairing of Mrs. Pickles the horse and Angus the donkey.

The farmer who bred them, Maisey Watson, says that Mules usually grow to a height inbetween the parents, however with Pedro’s mother being only 30 inches tall, she believes that he will only ever grow to the size of a Labrador dog.

Mrs. Watson adds, ‘He will be very valuable so I am keeping a close eye on him.’ But with Pedro only coming up to her kneecaps at the moment, keeping an eye on him may prove more difficult than it sounds.

It seems that good things do indeed come in small packages.
