Tony Blackburn is still Top of the Pops | The Daily Dust delivering the best bric a brac, daily news and events with a British flavour

Tony Blackburn

It’s the wonderful sound of Radio 1, and Blackburn is still the nation’s favourite breakfast.

Maybe it’s his renaissance from his time in I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, maybe it’s the time spent as the butt of the jokes in Noel’s Crinkley Bottom, or maybe it’s that he was a really really good DJ that the nation still adores.

Whatever the reason the number one choice of the public as the best Breakfast DJ on Radio 1 is…

Tony Blackburn!

Taking almost 1 in 5 of the vote, ahead of the incumbent Chris Moyles and the zany antics of Radio 2 stalwart Chris Evans, Blackburn bucked the trend of the more recent DJ;s coming further ahead in the poles – perhaps that explains the lowly place of The Dust’s favourite, Simon Mayo…

In any case, congrats to Tony – the first voice heard on Wonderful Radio One 1 is still the nation’s favourite morning call.

And a dedication for the Daily Record there.
