Bellingham becomes the fourth to exit Strictly Come Dancing
October 10, 2009 by Nigel Slater
Actress Lynda Bellingham is out of Strictly Come Dancing after losing out in a close fought dance-off.
The Loose Women star and Darren Bennett lost out to Coronation Street actor Craig Kelly and his partner Flavia Cacace.
Both couples danced a Foxtot and received 24 points from the judges.
The judges claimed it was hard to differ the two dances in the dance-off because the Kelly had to lead the dance and Bellingham had to do the opposite.
It looked as if Bellingham would be staying when judges Craig Revel Horwood and Alesha Dixon voted in favour of the actress to give her a two nil advantage.
However, Bruno Tonioli decided to save Kelly which left for head judge Len Goodman to make the casting vote - saving the Weatherfield star, who plays ladies man Luke Strong in the soap.
Bellingham said: “I’ve had a fantastic and enjoyable time. It has been brilliant and learned so much.”
All of the 13 remaining couples had to dance either a Foxtrot or a sexy Salsa.
Anton Du Beke and his celebrity partner Laila Rouass put all the controversy from this week behind them by getting the highest score of the night – getting 34 points from the judges for their Foxtrot.
Their high scoring performance comes after Du Beke apologised to millions earlier this week after jokingly calling Laila ‘a Paki’.
Footballer’s Wives star Zoe Lucker and her partner James Jordan were in second place after their Foxtrot scored 33 points.
The best Salsa dance of the night came from The Bill actress Ali Bastian and Brian Fortuna.
Next week the twelve remaining couples will be dancing to either a Vienese Waltz or a Jive.
