Knockout blow for Calzaghe in Strictly Come Dancing

Joe Calzaghe was given the ultimate blow earlier tonight after being knocked out of Strictly Come Dancing.
The former champion boxer and his partner Kristina Rihanoff lost out to actress Zoe Lucker in the dance-off with all the judges deciding to save the Footballer’s Wives star.
This week the remaining dancing couples performed either a latin Jive or a Vienese Waltz in the fifth week of the competition.
Calzaghe received just 21 points from the judges for his Jive while Lucker and her professional partner James Jordan were given 30 points.
A disappointed Calzaghe said: “It’s the way it goes. It has been a great experience.”
With Lucker placed third on the leaderboard for her Jive it was a surprise she found herself in the dance-off.
However it was a foregone conclusion she would survive against Calzaghe who has been at the bottom of the leaderboard throughout the series.
The dance of the night belonged to Hollyoaks’ actor Ricky Whittle and dancer Natalie Lowe who scored 36 points for their Vienese Waltz – the highest score of the series.
Their performance was so strong it received the first ‘ten’ of the series from judge Alesha Dixon who described it as ‘fantastic and effortless’.
Tonight’s show did come with some controversy when Jo Wood and dancer Brendan Cole left the dancefloor before all the judges critiqued their Vienese Waltz.
Cole took his celebrity partner off the stage after judge Craig Revel Horwood compared Wood’s performance to that of a ‘bush kangaroo’ and earlier fellow judge Bruno Tonioli said it was like a ‘grasshopper’.
Host Bruce Forysth then argued with Revel Horwood saying his comments were personal and out of order.
Next week sees the eleven remaining couples perform either a Samba or an American Smooth.
Co-presenter Tess Daly revealed to viewers the show will be coming live from Blackpool in a few weeks time.
