Russian man’s dramatic brush with death caught on CCTV
October 21, 2009 by Tom Moran
As if a near death experience was not enough, one Russian pedestrian can now watch his own on video.
CCTV footage shows the man was only inches away from being crushed by an out-of-control bus in the city of Perm.
He is seen crossing a road when a bus emerges from nowhere and ploughs into the back of a car waiting at traffic lights.
At the point of no return, the pedestrian sprints across the road as the car is shoved marginally to his right in what resembles a well choreographed stunt.
He then narrowly misses the bus as it rolls to the left in a scene worthy of any big budget Hollywood blockbuster.
And with his priorities well and truly in order, he manages to keep a firm grasp of his briefcase throughout the traumatic event.
According to Russian news outlet Uralinform.ru, the Number 67 bus had been parked on a hill when its brakes failed.
Astonishingly the heavy vehicle then rolled for five blocks down the hill, smashing 20 cars aside on its way.
At least four people are reported to have been injured in the incident but officials warn the number could rise.
Perm is a city in the European region of Russia, west of the Ural mountains.
