It just gets better and better for Robbie Williams after being chosen for the Outstanding Contribution to Music award at next year’s Brit Awards bonanza.
After a rather nervy performance two weeks ago live on The X Factor, the Stoke born singer performed much like the normal Robbie on Tuesday in the BBC Electric Proms festival.
Being nominated for the award completes a remarkable turn around for the former Take That star, who two years ago entered a rehabiliation centre for his addiction to drugs.
Williams will receive the award on the 30th anniversary of the BRITS’ ceremony on February 16 2010.
After receiving the award and making a speech he is then likely to perform a medley of some of his famous records in front of millions.
Viewers will be able to watch the Brit Awards one again exclusively live on ITV1.
Ged Doherty, Chairman of the BRITS’ committee said: “Robbie is one of the outstanding artists and performers of his generation. It will be an absolute thrill to have him at the BRIT’S 30th anniversary show receiving the Outstanding Contribution to Music award.
“We are delighted.”
