Gervais to host the glitz of the Golden Globes

Ricky-Gervais-at-the-prem-001 version

Life could not get any more better for Ricky Gervais, as he was named the host for next year’s Golden Globes Awards next year.

Organisers of the ceremony revealed that The Office and Extras star was offered the position after he made a small appearance in this year’s Hollywood bonanza.

In the last few years, the glamorous ceremony has not featured a main presenter, which makes Gervais’ appointment even more special.

It could also be taken on view that Ricky has now cracked the showbiz life in America, by being chosen to present one of the world’s biggest entertainment award shows.

The ceremony will take place in the ‘champagne city’ of Los Angeles on January 17.

Paul Telgedy from American TV Network NBC, who screen the awards said: “Ricky is one of the funniest guys on the planet.”

In addition, Philip Berk from Hollywood Foreign Press Association, who present the awards, was delighted to have Ricky on board.

He said: “He’ll bring his unique brand of humour and charm to what will continue to be a fast-paced show.”
