British Rubik’s Cube Champion Aims for International Glory

Charlotte Cooper can solve a Rubik’s cube faster than you can move the stickers around.

Fifteen seconds. What can you do in fifteen seconds? Pour a cup of tea? Read a text message? Lock your front door?

Well Charlotte Cooper (23) can solve a Rubik’s Cube. One of Britain’s speedcubers she can solve the six sided frustration machine in under fifteen seconds, although in competition her best time is 17.59 seconds.

The twelfth fastest cuber in the UK (and the fastest female) is now gearing up for the UK Nationals with up to five hours of practice a day (that’s close to solving 900 scrambled cubes while you’re at work)

She’s got some time in hand to beat the current world record of 7.08 seconds, but if Cooper and her league companions keep this up, can we have this as an Olympic Sport in 2012?

Hat tip to the Telegraph.
