Cracking Birthday Cake, Gromit!
November 4, 2009 by Mark Glenning
Wallace and Gromit celebrate their 20th birthday today- with a cracking new Google doodle!
The Aardman Animations favourites have been honored with their very own Google logo which when clicked on, leads to a results page featuring the characters created by Nick Park.
They join the exalted ranks of other icons who have been honored by the internet search giant which include Albert Einstein, Leonardo da Vinci, Galileo, Mahatma Gandhi, Confucious and Michael Jackson.
The Oscar winning pair’s first adventure, A Grand Day Out, features them taking a trip to the Moon to follow Wallace’s obsession with cheese and first hit out screens 20 years ago.
Since then, they’ve starred in a number of short films including The Wrong Trousers, A Close Shave and A Matter Of Loaf And Death and the feature length The Curse Of The Were Rabbit which netted an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film.
In March of this year, the duo were honored with an exhibition at the London Science Museum titled “Wallace & Gromit present a World of Cracking Ideas”.
