X-Factor’s Simon Cowell and his first TV Appearance

A fresh faced, go-karting Simon Cowell and a legendary appearance on Sale of the Century.

He didn’t suddenly appear overnight, oh no. Mr Smooth himself, Simon Cowell, had a foray into television light entertainment long before X-Factor and Pop Idol. All the way to the late eighties in Sky1’s remake of Sale of the Century.

Unfortunately not hosted by Nicholas Parsons (that would be deviation), the silver tongued music mogul took the challenge from Peter Marshall, even turning down two ladies scarfes and thirty pounds cash in a bid to win the show.

Did he win and defeat the reigning champion? You’ll have to watch and find out.
