Cowell under fire for saving ‘Jedward’
Millions of X Factor fans were left outraged last night after Lucie Jones crashed out of the show for controversial twins John and Edward.
The Cardiff beauty was left in tears after it was announced she was leaving the show.
Lucie and the twins were surprisingly left in the bottom two in last night results show and had to compete in the dreaded sing-off.
Judges on Saturday claimed Lucie was the best female singer in the competition and had a great future ahead of her.
Whereas Dannii Minogue blasted John and Edward’s version of ‘Ghostbusters’ saying she ‘wouldn’t want to hear them on the radio’.
It seemed the ‘untalented’ John and Edward were crashing out after judges Dannii Minogue and Cheryl Cole voted to send the Dublin pair home - after their mentor Louis Walsh stood by his act.
It was then left to Cowell to make the decisive and vital decision.
However, Cowell surprisingly decided to save John and Edward in a u-turn call given his criticism of the twins in previous shows, to leave the vote to ‘Deadlock’.
Presenter Dermot O’Leary announced it was Lucie who received the least voted from the public and it was her going home.
An upset Lucie said today on GMTV: “Honestly, I mean, i’m gutted because I’ve gone but they (’Jedward’) deserve to be there.
“Anyone could have been in the bottom two. Anything can happen on that show. Their sing off was so entertaining last night and they absolutely killed it.
“I’ve enjoyed every single second of it, even last night.”
Fans have fumed that Lucie should not have been voted out because she was the far superior singer compared to ’Jedward’ – in what is a singing contest.
Minogue, Lucie’s mentor, blasted afterwards: “I just wish all the good singers good luck in the singing competition. This shouldn’t have happened.”
And fans of the show have blamed Cowell for knocking out the talented Lucie.
Tracey Speke, 40, from Shropshire told The Sun: “Simon Cowell has ruined his own show. He’s gone too far this time.”
Simon Pugh, 42, from Lewes, East Sussex also told The Sun: “Simon has made himself look an idiot. he should have had the guts to get rid of the twins but has turned the show into a joke.”
