X Factor’s final 12 to release charity single
November 9, 2009 by Nigel Slater
The final twelve acts to appear in this year’s X Factor live finals are to release a new charity single – originally sang by Michael Jackson.
This year’s live finalists will perform their version of ‘You Are Not Alone’ for the first time on Sunday’s results show on November 15 – in front of Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole, Louis Walsh and Dannii Minogue.
The single will raise funds for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s charity.
It will go on sale November 16 and will be immediately available to download straight after the live performance on Sunday night.
Simon Cowell said: “Following last year’s record we made with the X Factor finalists in aid for Help for Heroes we decided we wanted to do something annually on the show to help good causes.
“This year we chose to work with Great Ormond Street to help raise funds and awareness for their incredible work. I’m very proud of the single and I really hope it raises an enormous amount of money for people who really need our help.”
Dr Jane Collins, chief executive at Great Ormond Street Hospital, said: “Everyone at the hospital is extremely excited that The X Factor has chosen to support us.
“We really hope the public will buy the recording so we can raise as much as much money as possible to allow us to continue to help sick children from across the UK to get better.”
