Get Your Bobby Robson Compost
November 10, 2009 by Ewan
Floral tributes to the Geordie Gentleman to aid the Foundation.
Following his death at the end of July, thousands of fans left their tribute to Sir Bobby Robson at St James Park, and they have not gone to waste.
Separating out the packaging from the flowers, 80 bags of compost were made and have now been sold by Julie Clay at the Earsdon Plant Centre, with all money raised being donated to the Bobby Robson Foundation supporting Cancer projects in the North East.
It’s also been confirmed that, at the request of Robson’s family, Alan Shearer will take on the role of the Foundation’s patron.
PS: For a brief moment we here at Dust Towers thought that Robson’s actual ashes were going to be in the compost… which would have been an interesting commercial decision.
