Simon Cowell influences this week’s Music Charts

November 22, 2009 by Ewan

X-Factor Finalists top the Charts

Not content with just a Christmas number one and the sales figures to go with it, the music men behind The X-Factor have bagged a pre-yultide chart topper with “You are Not Alone.”

Featuring all the finalists (so whoever wins can have “number one artist” on whatever is released), this is actually a charity single, and proceeds are going to Great Ormond Street Hospital.

TV fans will of course recognise the song as one sung last week on the show; others may spot it as a Michael Jackson; and Tinchy Stryder will be glad to hear it has nothing to do with his single You’re Not Alone.

Everyone else in the singles chart pretty much took one step back to make room for Cowell’s Charity Chart Topper.

Over in the albums it’s another Simon Success as Leona Lewis’ heads straight to the top, while the class of the UK shines through as the latest Greatest Hits of Queen is the second highest new entry at number three.

But hey, it was Queen week last Saturday on The X-Factor so I’m sure they’ll take the credit there as well.
