Tesco set to add Sim-Club Cards to the status symbol Apple phone on their mobile network

Now that O2’s exclusive time with the iPhone is over, it’s open season for anyone who can convince Steve Jobs and Cupertino to hand them the svelte touch screen device.

While Orange and Vodafone are obvious candidates for the device, what about Tesco? One of the worlds biggest supermarket chains has its own network (piggybacking on O2) so the capacity is there, the legal obstacles are out the way, and there is even a website to register your interest – www.tescomobileiphone.com.

It remains to be seen if the polished black backing will be changed over to the classic blue and white stripes of the Value Range.

Tip of the digital hat to Mike Butcher and TechCrunch Europe.
