What do Walsall, a leather museum and Harley Davidson’s have in common? Former Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford.
Halford has brought Christmas cheer to his West Midlands roots by donating 500 promo samples of his latest album to the Leather Museum to giveaway to people who pass through the doors.
Walsall Council Leader Mike Bird said: “Rob is known the world over for his music. His legion of fans knows him as a ‘metal god’ but it’s brilliant that he has kept links with his hometown.”
The samplers of ‘Halford III – Winter Songs’ will be available to visitors to the Walsall Leather museum in Littleton Street, Walsall, on a first come first served basis.
The album includes tracks: ‘Get Into the Spirit’, ‘When Christmas Comes For Everyone’, ‘Light Of The World’, ‘What Child Is This’ and ‘Come All Ye Faithful’.
It is a joyful and triumphant return to his hometown borough for Halford, who spends most of the year in the USA where the album was recorded, but travels back often.
Sue Buckler, of Plug and Play Promotions, said: “They’ve assembled a fantastic release with a collection of holiday tracks he and his band have enjoyed from an early age.”
The full album is available on the Metal Gods label via record shops and www.halfordmusic.com. A competition to win merchandise will also be staged on www.walsall.gov.uk and via Walsall Council’s Twitter feed @walsallcouncil.
The museum is open 10am to 5pm Tuesday to Saturday and is closed December 24 to 27 inclusive and New Years Day.
