Actress Laila Rouass has become the latest celebrity to be voted off BBC show Strictly Come Dancing – missing out on a semi-final place.
The Footballer’s Wives star lost out to actor Ricky Whittle in the dance off as judges decided to save the Hollyoaks star for his dazzling Foxtrot.
Rouass was always going to struggle to avoid eviction after all two dances got the least marks and was way below at the bottom of the overall leaderboard in comparison to the other three couples.
The actress messed up her American Smooth and was only rewarded 33 points out of 50 by the judges.
It got even worse later on for her after her ‘clumsy’ Salsa did not impress the judges at all – rewarding her and Anton just 26 points.
After the result, Laila said to her professional partner Anton Du Beke: “It has been such a dream dancing with you. I’ve had such a fantastic time. It’s been such a ball.”
Last night the four remaining couples performed two dances in a bid to secure a place in next week’s semi-final.
Much respected ballet dancer Darcey Bussell joined the judging panel for the first time and will do so for the remainder of the series.
Despite being placed in the dance-off, Whittle and his partner Natalie Lowe were top of the leaderboard for their terrific Foxtrot and Cha Cha Cha performances. They scored 48/50 and 47/50 respectively to give them a total of 95/100.
The Bill actress Ali Bastian and Brian Fortuna came second. They scored 42 for their Tango and 44 for their Samba performance – to give them a total of 86/100.
BBC Sports reporter Chris Hollins and Ola Jordan fell in third place after scoring 41 for their Waltz and their Samba got them a further 39 points to give them a total 80/100.
Next week the three couples will dance in a bid to make the this year’s Strictly Come Dancing final.
It has been confirmed Lily Allen will be performing on next week’s show, which starts at 6.45pm next Saturday on BBC One.
