Asda have predicted that one of the top selling Christmas presents this year will be the Snuggie.
A cross between a blanket and a jumper, the Snuggie is made of a fleece-like material and has sleeves – ideal for using the TV remote control whilst lying on the sofa recovering from a gut-busting Christmas dinner.
Asda started selling the Snuggie three weeks ago, and have shifted “tens of thousands” of them so far.
Jennifer England from Asda said: “Customers have gone absolutely bonkers for these in the USA and sales figures here are suggesting we’re only too keen to follow their lead. They’re certainly a must-have for anyone looking to get cosy on a cold winter night – after all we all love an excuse for a snuggle.”
Over 5 million Snuggies have been sold in America, and actor Bruce Willis even wore his when he appeared on the David Letterman show.
However, the Snuggie has a rival in the form of The Slanket – gadget retailers Lakeland have sold over 200,00 in the past year.
We at Dust Towers aren’t building our hopes up of getting one this Christmas though, having previously been disappointed at not getting Buzz Lightyear or Tracy Island.
