Which film has been voted the best of the last decade?

As the final few weeks of ‘the noughties’ come to a close, the writers at Total Film magazine have been looking back at the decade to decide which films have impressed them most.

After a lot of debate, the writers chose 2007’s There Will Be Blood as the ‘Greatest film of the decade.’

Paul Thomas Anderson’s film starred Britain’s Daniel Day Lewis as an oil prospector determined to make his fortune at any cost.

The magazine also awarded last years smash hit The Dark Knight the title of ‘blockbuster of the decade,’ while 2001’s Donnie Darko was awarded ‘cult of the decade.’

Total Film’s deputy editor, Jamie Graham, said: “The Total Film selections were designed to identify the films that have most shaped the landscape of modern mainstream cinema.

“But we also felt it was important to reward the ‘best’ film of the decade, and this category saw Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will Be Blood pip the likes of No Country For Old Men, Mulholland Drive, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Memento to the top spot.”
