Premier League Ask For Wolves’ Explanation

The Premier League have written to Wolverhampton Wanderers to ‘request their observations’ about the side fielded in their 3-0 defeat to Manchester United Tuesday.

Manager Mick McCarthy (pictured with a fan) retained only goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann from their second win on the bounce against Tottenham Hotspur Saturday, resting ten first-teamers before Sunday’s clash with Burnley.

Wolves’ supporter chief Arthur Williams branded the selection ‘grossly disrespectful’ and claimed the 3,000 travelling fans chanted: ‘We want our money back’.

Wayne Rooney’s penalty opened the scoring before Nemanja Vidic headed home a Darron Gibson corner and Antonio Valencia grabbed United’s third.

Premier League rule 20, section E, states teams must field a full-strength side in all top flight matches.

Meanwhile West Ham goalkeeper Robert Green’s spilled for Ivan Klasnic to set Bolton on the way to victory from close range in Wanderers’ 3-1 win at the Reebok stadium.

Chung-Yong Lee and Gary Cahill scored either side of Klasnic with Alessandro Diamanti’s equaliser in vain.

Elsewhere, Cameron Jerome’s double catapulted Premier League surprise package Birmingham City into sixth after their 2-1 win over Blackburn at St. Andrews.

Ryan Nelsen pulled one back for Rovers but it was not enough to prevent the Blues’ win.

Fellow West Midlanders Aston Villa continued their recent good form with James Milner and Emile Heskey wrapping up a 2-0 win over Sunderland at Villa Park.

What do you think about Wolves’ selection? Don’t all managers rotate their sides? Let us at the Dailydust know.
