England will play Egypt next March in a warm-up match as part of their World Cup campaign next summer.
The friendly to be staged on Wednesday March 3 at Wembley, will provide a decent test for Fabio Capello’s men as they take on the current African Cup of Nations champions.
It will also give England a good idea of how African sides play their football, in the build up to their vital World Cup group match against Algeria in next summer’s showstage tournament in South Africa.
Ironically it was Algeria who beat Egypt in the decisive World Cup Qualifying Play-Off encounter to secure their place in South Africa next June.
The game will be England’s first match of the year and the first time Egypt have played at Wembley.
The last time the two nations met was in the 1990 World Cup in Italy when a Mark Wright winner saw England qualify for the Second round of the competition in a 1 – 0 win.
