West Brom Crem expands to accommodate modern corpses.

The new cremator at Trinity Funerals crematorium in West Bromwich is giving itself a bit of future proofing by making their newest 43 inches wide rather than the more standard 35 inches.

”There has been a noticeable change over the last decade or so," said Ashely Savell-Boss of the company. "Most undertakers have looked after someone very, very large but you just have to ensure you have the staff numbers and vehicles to handle it."

Given the average age of a cremator is twenty years old (that’s gotta come up in a pub quiz soon!) this could be the first in a new wave of super-sized machines as the older units reach the end of their life.
