N-Dubz reveal disapproval over Brits nominations

UK hip-hop group N-Dubz have spoken of their disappointment to only be up for one nomination at this year’s Brit Awards.

Last Monday evening, the nominations for next month’s ceremony were revealed with Lily Allen, Florence and the Machine and Pixie Lott receiving three nominations each.

The trio consisting of Dappy, Tulisa and Fazer (pictured from left to right), appeared on Channel Five’s entertainment show ’Live From Studio Five’, where they spoke of their frustration.

Dappy told presenters Ian Wright, Melinda Messenger and Kate Walsh: “We wanted to get nominated for a couple more.”

The group were nominated for Best British Single with their smash hit ’Number 1′ with grime star Tinchy Stryder. But band member Tulisa was not very impressed.

She said on the show: “It’s a bit of a cheap cop-out really because it’s a ‘featuring’ song – it’s not actually our song. Me and Frazer are not on it, so I don’t actually feel like I’ve got a nomination at all.

“Sometimes I think (the organisers) defeat the object of the Brits – the British awards.

“They’ve got a lot of American acts coming through, and acts like us who have worked ten years and finally done something for the urban part of the music industry, they just ignore us, and you have all the Lady Gaga’s on stage.”

The Brit Awards will take place on February 16 from Earls Court and will be hosted by comedian Peter Kay.
