Children’s favourite to call it quits after 100 episodes as Igglepiggle knows it’s time to go.

The BBC have decided to not commission any more episodes of pre-school kids show In The Night Garden. The adventures of Igglepiggle, Upsy Daisy and Makka Pakka will live on in repeat, but as for new material, that’s all, folks!

Unlike the Teletubbies (which was created by the same team as those behind Night Garden), which reached 365 episodes before filming was halted, In The Night Garden fans will have to console themselves with the 100 episodes in the can – which will probably run throughout the years in any case.

I don’t know – I was shocked when the lost 13th episode of Mr Ben turned up in the DVD Box Set. 100 episode seems rather a lot, but as the BBC rightly point out:

CBeebies will continue to show In The Night Garden for many years to come and it remains hugely popular with our audience.

Quite right to, given it cost £14.5 million to make. Let;s get value for money out of Sir Derek Jacobi’s voice over!

Hat tip to DS.
